For the love of fabric.

Do you ever go to a fabric store and come across a really fun pattern that you just can't put down? You don't have a specific project for it, but oh, it's so stinkin' fun - you just gotta have it? Well, I was on the internet a few days ago looking for a shower curtain for my bathroom and I just couldn't find anything worth spending money on. So I decided to make my own. Now, I wanted something fun with a little retro flare, so off to The Cotton Shop I went and found sooo many amazing patterns!! But unfortunately, I had to narrow it down to only two:

The orange is exactly what I was looking for, but I just couldn't let go of the blue!! so I decided  to use both. Here's how I did it:

They were both $9 a yard each and to make a curtain I was going to need 5 yards!! Well, lets just say I was not ready to spend $50 on a shower curtain, so I got 1 yard of the orange and 1/2 yard of the blue. I had to rely on my thrifty nature to come up with a way to make a shower curtain with 1 and 1/2 yards of fabric.

How about a sheet? BINGO!!

I new I had a few spare ones down in my guest bedroom. Fortunately, I found a white one.

Not the right size... (underneath is a shower curtain liner that I used as my pattern.) hmmmm. 

 That's ok. Lets trim the sides and layer the top of the curtain with the blue. Look! some leftover! lets use it at the bottom! and fill in the middle with stripes of the orange square fabric.

Time to sow it all together.

I cut the material with my pinking shears, leaving raw edges - to save time.

 I needed to give it a little more length so I used the leftover sheet material that I had cut off the sides and sowed it to the top of the blue.  

 VIOLA!!

finito!!

acabado!

DONE!

I ended up spending $16 on the whole thing.

It is what I wanted, and it makes me smile!

Even at 5:45 in the AM Monday mornings.
