My daughter was born close to Halloween and this year her birthday party guests came in their Halloween costumes. She loves Cookie Monster (who doesn't!!) and wanted a Cookie Monster cake. I've had many people ask how I made it... Here's how:
Ingredients:
1 box cake mix (any flavor)
1 tub of white or vanilla frosting
blue food coloring
3 - 4 cookies (any kind)
Bake the cake mix on 2 eight or nine " rounds. While the cakes are baking, mix the tub of frosting with about 10 drops of blue food coloring (or until desired color is reached) I know, Cookie Monster is a lot darker, but I just couldn't use more than 10 drops of dye!!
Follow directions on cooling the cakes. Spread about 1/3 cup of frosting on one top of the rounds and put the other round on top.
For the fur:
Empty the tub of frosting on a quart size ziploc bag and clip one of the corners off about 1/16th".
Start at the top and squeeze the frosting onto the cake and pull up until the string of frosting breaks up from the bag. Do this quickly and repeatedly. cover the cake with "fur"
For the eyes:
I used 2 marshmallows with a little bit of frosting to hold an M&M on each eye.
Stick the cookies in his "mouth" between the two rounds.
Viola!!!
Me loved the cake!!!! Hope you do too!!!
